On Monday in Work Readiness, my classmates and I were introduced to a new type of presentation. This type of presentation is PowToon. PowToon is a new way to present data and information to your viewers by animation. With PowToons there's always something on the screen that grabs your attention. It won't sit there and bore you to death with words and pictures. This week my teacher had us do an assignment on PowToons called ¨Why it's important to….¨ Students had to choose a topic on something that was important to themselves. Although we were very new to PowToons students explored and found ways to make PowToons an easier place to work. After we were finished we had a mock speed dating session where students rotated every two minutes or so showing each other their PowToons to , give one another compliments and constructive criticism. The next day, we revised and edited our PowToons before we published them. You can view a few of our PowToons below; mine is embedded.

In Work Readiness on Thursday, July 9th, our class went down to the SPA Tech Center to work with Ms. Taylor from Workforce Partnership. We watched the TED Talk "Your Body Language Shapes Who You" are by Amy Cuddy on body language and presentation. The video informed us of the impact our body language has on first impressions. The video informed us that our body language is something we are subconsciously judged by, which is why ¨power postures” can be helpful to ¨fake it till we make it.¨ However the true aim is for us to ¨take it till we are it.” The tip is that our different ¨power postures¨ help us raise our self-esteem and can help change our mentality. This then increases our value when going in for an interview or meeting someone because our posture shows confidence. After, we wrote a paper based on this information. You can read my paper and a few of my peers' papers below. This post was written by Abigail who is going into her senior year at San Pasqual Academy. |
