For the past four weeks, my class has been studying and discussing GMO’s and the food we intake. We realized that not many people are aware of what they are really eating. We decided to make a survey asking several questions about the audience’s background, decision making when it comes to picking food and what they eat. We also asked them what a GMO is to see how many people actually have a good understanding on what it is. It took a while to come up with all the questions but after a long discussion with my classmates we came up with several qualitative and quantitative questions. Students posted the survey in social media and other websites with hope that we could reach out to a lot of people to take our survey. I also even took a picture of the website and shared it with my co-workers at Chipotle. We had a total of 208 responses, most of them being Ms. Priester’s friends. For all I know, most of my friends didn’t respond to the survey. Sad, but only shows that most of my friends don’t care about what they eat. The survey results showed that most of the people who took our survey are well aware of what GMOs are, overall make good decisions, and have pretty good eating habits. Yeah, most of the people who took the survey are White. But that only tells us that next time we do something like this, we need to try to reach a more diverse audience. Maybe if we do, the results would be different. And overall, doing this activity was pretty fun. I enjoyed seeing what other people take in consideration when picking the food they eat. It was also fun to work with my class on even just making the survey. As a result of all this I have learned a lot. Starting with teamwork skills. Mostly because we have to work together on coming up with the questions. Rosa is going into her senior year at San Pasqual Academy. She enjoys MMA and currently works at Chipotle. Teacher's Note: This lesson was inspired by Jen Robert's (@JenRoberts1)session, Writing for Technical Subjects, at CUE Rockstar La Jolla 2015.

Incredible work on this project. You should be proud of what you have discovered and how you shared this with others to help inform them of the key ideas you researched!
