Two weeks ago, we finished writing our first round of letters for the month of January. We followed these directions and rubric.
When we wrote the letters in class on Thursday, January, 26th, students were given support in the form of sentence frames in the Google Docs template, a word bank posted on the whiteboard, and direct adult support. In periods 4 and 6, one adult was assigned to each group to tutor students as needed. We wrote letters four times during last semester, so many students chose to work independently. Unfortunately, many students who worked independently were unable to complete their letters. These students can still submit their letters in Google Classroom.
Since many students needed extra time (partially due to the shortened week from the rain day), I waited until this weekend to finish grading missing and resubmitted assignments. Here is a summary:
Most of the students who completed the letters earned a 2.5 or a C, which means they were almost able to independently complete the learning goals:
This week, we will print and sign the letters to send home.
