We’ve now completed two weeks of the semester, and I just entered the first assignment into Infinite Campus. Following our classroom calendar, I entered grades for the initial round of community circle. The assignment is called Community Circle #1 in the gradebook.
Students, as you know, I assess your speaking skills during community circles and meetings using a Google Form. Today, I moved the data from that form to a spreadsheet and used it to calculate your average score. Following the rubric, this score became your grade. If you are unhappy with your grade and/or just want to improve it during the next two weeks, please check the directions and rubric here.

The next assignment that will go in the gradebook is Letter #1, so make sure you try your hardest as we write them this week. We will finish the letters on Thursday. On Friday, we will complete a Step Up to Writing assignment, which is titled Summary Paragraph #1. To earn a grade for this, you will need to complete a vocabulary card based on a word from the article, just like we did last week. Keep up the good work!
Today, we held our first classroom meeting. In each meeting, we selected a new class mascot to use as a talking piece, identified a class problem, and held a discussion to find a solution. Summaries of the meetings are below.
